Today, people get more and more conscious about what they eat or how they live as it becoming harder to stay healthy. We are exposed to radiation, it is more difficult to find fresh and healthy food or we don’t have enough time to sleep for most of the time as we have always so much thing to do. This being the case we do our best to stick to our nutritional and exercise plan as we owe our health to them. However, it may not be that possible if you are a business traveler.
Being a business traveler generally means that you will need to sleep less because of the long meetings or extended hours on a plane, your nutrition plan will be derailed and your daily routines will be interrupted. You try to survive these wearing trips because you are determined to get the most out of the meetings that you attend and you wish that your strength doesn’t leave you alone when you return because you need to work even harder when you are back. However, it may be challenging when you have to skip a meal (or eat something that doesn’t fit your nutritional plan), your sleep schedule is changed or you feel too tired to exercise.
No matter what may be the challenges are, if you are determined to take good care of yourself even on the business trips, pay some attention to these healthy eating tips that will protect you from eating nonsense food and feeling guilty. You wouldn’t dream of indigestion, low energy or an upset stomach while on a business trip, would you?
This is the golden rule. Whenever it is, wherever you are, don’t forget to drink water. If you can’t risk having a headache, fatigue, lack of concentration or muscle cramps or indigestion, try to stay hydrated especially after the long flights. In case you may not find water to drink whenever you need, carry your own water bottle with you.
Do some research on where you are going
Never travel to a country without doing a research on its cuisine. Make a list of what you can and what you can’t eat. Learn about the restaurants that serve healthier food especially around your hotel and the event’s venue so when you are desperate about what you will eat, they will be your safe harbour. However, bear in mind that the most popular food in the country that you are travelling to, may not appeal to your feeding behavior so never go over the limit.
Rely on dried fruits or nutritional bars
Dried fruits and nutritional bars will save you from falling back on nonsense food. If you need something to eat during the coffee breaks or when you have sudden hunger crisis, rely nothing but on your nutritional arsenal. They will not only keep you full but also will provide you with significant amount of nutrients.
Ask fruits for some support
Just like vegetables fruits are your best friends and what is more, they are easy to carry and consume. Again in your hunger or in your sweet cravings, fruits will help you without loading your body with high calories.
Avoid the pastry platters
At the meetings, pastry platters may seem to be an attractive meal but try to avoid them. Because they will load your body with high calories and carbohydrate that will make you hungry again after a short time. In these times remember your dried fruit and nutritional bars in your stash!
As we all know, alcohol makes you retain water and make you dehydrated. Plus, most of the alcoholic drinks contains added sugar. So try not to drink more than 2 and prefer light beer, wine or a small liquor with soda for example.
Be careful with the open buffets
Yes, the open buffets are cool, especially for the breakfast. However you should also consider the side effects of an open buffet. First, the amounts may be excessive (if you can’t refrain yourself) and you can lose the control don’t take into consideration the nutritional value of what you eat. So stay cool and make your choices judiciously. Just avoid from the fried food, processed meat and desserts.
